What can actually be observed

Every executed trade has a buyer and a seller, so raw volume cannot tell us that one side disappeared. The useful distinction is which side crossed the spread: a marketable buy consumes available asks, while a marketable sell consumes available bids. That behaviour is commonly described as taker buy or taker sell flow.

The order book adds a second view. Resting bids and asks show advertised liquidity near the current mid-price. A deep ask side can absorb aggressive buying; a thin ask side may be easier to move through. Orders can also be cancelled, so displayed liquidity is context rather than a promise.

How Market Tug represents pressure

Market Tug uses Binance Spot BTCUSDT. Model mp-v1.1.0 assigns 70% of its combined reading to aggressive trade flow in a 15-second rolling window and 30% to Level 2 imbalance within 20 basis points of the mid-price. The result is normalized from -100 to +100.

Positive pressure means Buyers lead and pulls the Bitcoin marker left. Negative pressure means Sellers lead and moves it right. Values close to zero mean the two measured components are comparatively balanced or activity is weak.

Why scope and freshness matter

BTCUSDT on one spot venue is only part of the global Bitcoin market. Other exchanges, perpetual futures, options, over-the-counter activity, hidden orders, and transfers are outside the live index. A strong reading can coexist with a different picture elsewhere.

The signal also becomes less meaningful when updates are stale. Market Tug validates sequence and freshness at the gateway. If the latest frame is not trustworthy, the interface marks the problem and pauses directional motion rather than extending an old value.

A practical way to read it

Start with the freshness state, then look at the pressure direction, activity, price, and whether control persists or flips. A brief extreme during low activity does not carry the same context as sustained pressure with active trading and current depth.

Treat the result as a compact description of current microstructure. It can help you ask better questions about the live market, but it does not answer whether Bitcoin is a suitable trade or investment.
